*We define the right problem as the one that is keeping the organization from creating real value (without harming people or planet, of course). Our clients often refer to it as that big, hairy problem that either must not be mentioned or they have failed to solve a gazillion times.

Friktion is a small consultancy founded in 2015

We specialize in finding novel solutions to problems organizations don't know how to solve. Our people are management consultants, organizational change specialists, agile coaches and market strategists, working from Malmö, Stockholm and Munich.

We spend our days helping people and organizations make sense of a confusing world, make deliberate choices, and explore and learn continuously. Complexity awareness, non-linear methodology, and the courage to try new things are at the core of our ideas and toolbox.

More than just a name, Friktion is a declaration of what we believe drives meaningful change

In a world obsessed with making things frictionless, easy and—in the end—vanilla, we're taking a stand for friction as an enabler for innovation and creativity.

Why? Because the most powerful transformations don't come from smooth sailing. They come from leaning into the points of resistance. Embracing the uncomfortable questions. And recognizing that when things feel difficult, you're often exactly where you need to be.

Also, the mere idea of naming our company Friktion made us giggle. A lot and for a really long time.

We've just started making this mess, and there is still room for more playful grown-ups on our team. Apart from having a high tolerance for friction and a troublemaker attitude, you should also tick most of these boxes:

  • We're consultants. Spending most of your time solving problems for clients sounds good to you.

  • We don't have offices. While we do spend some time at our clients' offices, these days, most work is entirely remote, so you are comfortable with the thought of working from your home office.

  • We don't fly. You're a maximum of one reasonably short train ride from Malmö.

  • We have a Collective Bargaining Agreement, CBA ("kollektivavtal" in Swedish). You don't mind fair conditions, nice pension and other benefits, and employer/employee transparency.

  • We value background diversity. You aren't discouraged if your scoreboard lacks unlocked consultancy achievements. As long as you have complexity awareness and the courage to try new things, we'll figure out how to incorporate your skills and experience into our offering.
