Friktion is a small but mighty consultancy founded in 2015

Our speciality? Cracking problems that organizations don’t know how to solve themselves. We do this by helping people make sense of a messy world, make deliberate (and sometimes uncomfortable) choices, and keep learning and adapting along the way. Complexity awareness, non-linear thinking, and the courage to try new things aren't just tools in our kit—they are at the core of everything we do.

Our team brings together management consultants, organizational change specialists, agile coaches and market strategists. We're based in Malmö, Stockholm and Munich. Though most days you’ll find us working remotely, wherever there’s a big, hairy problem worth tackling.

That was us up until November 2024, when we chose a name that better reflects who we’ve become: Friktion.

More than just a name, Friktion is a declaration of what we believe drives meaningful change

Friktion means friction in Swedish. In a world obsessed with making things frictionless, easy and—in the end—vanilla, we're taking a stand for friction as an enabler for innovation and creativity.

Why? Because the most powerful transformations don't come from smooth sailing. They come from leaning into the points of resistance. Embracing the uncomfortable questions. And recognizing that when things feel difficult, you're often exactly where you need to be.

Also, the mere idea of naming our company Friktion made us giggle. A lot and for a really long time.

We've just started making this mess, and there is still room for more playful grown-ups on our team. Apart from having a high tolerance for friction and a troublemaker attitude, you should also tick most of these boxes:

  • We're consultants. Spending most of your time solving problems for clients sounds good to you.

  • We don't have offices. While we do spend some time at our clients' offices, most work is entirely remote. You are comfortable with the thought of working from your home office.

  • We don't fly. You're a maximum of one reasonably short train ride away from Malmö.

  • We have a Collective Bargaining Agreement ("kollektivavtal" in Swedish). You don't mind fair conditions, nice pension and other benefits, and employer/employee transparency.

  • We value background diversity. You aren't discouraged if your scoreboard lacks unlocked consultancy achievements. As long as you have complexity awareness and the courage to try new things, we'll figure out how to incorporate your skills and experience into our offering.
